Strengthen your intellectual property expertise with a new EPO–EIT HEI online lecture series and free self-paced courses designed to support innovation, research and effective IP management.

1. Save the Date – EPO–EIT HEI Lecture Series: IP as a Driver for Innovation

As part of the collaboration between the EIT HEI and the European Patent Office (EPO), we are pleased to announce a four-part online lecture series on intellectual property.

This lecture series addresses key IP topics relevant to innovation and research. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property and its role in innovation, explore the fundamentals of patents, learn how patent information can be used strategically to support research and identify innovation trends, and discover how to develop effective IP strategies. Each session will include expert presentations followed by a live Q&A.

The lecture series forms part of the Cohort 5 onboarding programme and is also open to Cohort 4 projects and the wider EIT HEI community.

  • 15 September, 13:30 – 15:00 CEST – Foundations of Intellectual Property (Giuseppe Bongiovanni Scalise)
  • 21 September, 13:30 – 15:00 CEST – Mastering Patent Fundamentals (Arthur Freitas)
  • 29 September, 13:30 – 15:00 CEST – Unlocking Patent Data for Innovation (Jürgen Mühl)
  • 6 October, 13:30 – 15:00 CEST – Building Effective IP Strategies (Thomas Withnell)

Registration will open soon. We will share the registration link and further details in a separate communication.

Participants who attend all four lectures will receive a certificate of completion.

2. EPO Open Self-Paced Courses

The European Patent Office also offers a range of free online self-paced IP courses that can be completed at any time. These courses are available to all EIT HEI projects and the wider community, and each course includes a certificate upon successful completion.
