Research

UCP is home to the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) is an R&D centre at UCP, founded in 1990 and rated as Excellent in the last national evaluation of R&D Units (2025). The CBQF develops and disseminates knowledge and innovation in pivotal areas – Food and Nutrition, Environment, and Health.

It holds disciplinary competencies based on biosciences, bioengineering, nutrition, and analytical chemistry, applied to thematic challenges focused on the health and well-being of the citizen and the competitiveness of the agricultural and food systems. CBQF hosts 7 advanced platforms serving research activities and in the past 5 years has participated in over 200 projects, publishing  over 1000 papers.
