Training Content

This intensive course provides participants with an in-depth understanding of intellectual property rights (IPRs), what they protect, and the role they play in bringing innovations to market, with a particular focus on the agri-food sector.

The course is divided into two main parts:

  • Understanding IPRs: clarifying the nature of intellectual property rights, what they protect, and addressing common misconceptions.
  • Strategic Use of IPRs: exploring how IPRs can be used as valuable business assets.

Sessions will combine presentations with interactive activities, enabling participants to apply their knowledge and ensuring a strong grasp of key concepts.

Training Schedule

Basics of Intellectual Property Rights:

Introduction to the different types of IPRs, what they protect, and how they can be enforced.

By the end of this section, participants will understand:

  • the role of IPR in research and innovation (R&I);
  • what constitutes IPR infringement and what does not;
  • which types of IPRs are relevant to a specific business plan, innovation, or situation.

Intellectual Property Rights Management:

How IPRs can be used and leveraged by their owners.

Participants will gain insight into:

  • internal mechanisms within an organisation or business needed to manage IPRs effectively;
